Stephen A Smith must go
I wouldn't really classify this as a hot take. This clown has made his career on being a hot head contrarian. He has fans, and I can respect that people like the stream of bullshit that comes out of his mouth.
Lane Johnson recently retired. He was a 14-year veteran for the Philadelphia Eagles. Most day he's one of the top ten right tackles to have ever played the game. What was different about his retirement was that it came early in the season while the team is not playing particularly well. The guy has a lot going on in his life right now. His parents are struggling with major health issues, and slogging through another season is not really the highest thing on his list right now. So he decided to call it quits and made mention that it was best for his mental health that he do so.
That should really be the end of it. It's his life. He's got a ton of money. He wants to take care of himself and his family.
It's not, though. Stephen A Smith went on his show on ESPN yesterday and mocked Lane Johnson for his decision. He patted his heart while he said he retired for his mental health. What's worse is that his gutless colleagues in the panel with him didn't immediately call him out. Maybe they were stunned into silence. I think it's another symptom of ESPN circling the drain.
Don't watch Stephen A Smith. Don't watch ESPN. Where's cancel culture when you really need it?
